I liked this book. It offers a step by step guide on how to create good habits and break bad ones. It was interesting to see things I do to create and stick to habits described and turned into strategies. I have never really thought about these methods as actual methods and I found it fascinating to learn to recognise what I already do and maybe pick up a few new things.
One of the last chapters in the book is less practical and more theoretic and it got me interested enough to spend a bit more time in trying to get it all in my head. It goes through the chain of Cue - Craving - Response - Reward and defines interactions and mechanisms that work between these states. It defines things like happiness and being at peace. It goes into desire, expectation, the pain of failure and the formula for satisfaction. It goes into how Rapid Judgements (System 1) and Rational Thinking (system 2) interact in this model. Also interesting was that at the beginning for any habit formation, the drive to action is purely based on hope but that changes as the habit forms and the result becomes predictable. Anyways, I enjoyed that chapter.
